The traditional values of American society and architecture are abundant. Indeed, Celebration is reminiscent of a small, pre-WW II eastern seaboard community. Celebration’s amenities include over 30 parks, numerous fountains, 4 community pools, miles of nature walks, tennis courts, a community center and an award-winning 4-star golf course.
Ever since Celebration was founded in 1994, demand for Celebration real estate has been high. In mid-1995, Disney and The Celebration Company were being inundated with inquiries from enthusiastic, prospective homeowners. To manage this initial rush of buyers in an even-handed manner, an old-fashioned lottery was held on November 18, 1995. Approximately 1,200 deposits of $1,000 each were received to compete for the 351 homes that would comprise Celebration village and 5,000 people turned up for the drawing itself, much to the amazement of even the most optimistic Disney executives.
The first residents took occupancy in June 1996. Even after the initial flurry of buyer interest, demand for Celebration FL properties remained strong and the plans were accelerated. Celebration Village was followed by West Village, Lake Evelyn and North Village in 1997, South Village and Roseville Corners in 2000, East Village in 2001, Aquila Reserve in 2003 and the final residential neighborhood, Artisan Park, in 2004.
Each new development has included the amenities that has kept this a unique community. Numerous local parks and recreation areas have been added to absorb the new families and keep recreation choices near your home. Community swimming pools, community centers and additional walking and bike riding paths have been added. There is a wide variety of architecture and property types in Celebration. In particular, porches and backyard alleys for garages and services are standard for most homes in Celebration.
When completed, Celebration will have approximately 5,800 homes including approximately 2,200 condominiums and around 1,400 rental apartments. The condo prices can start in the low $200,000’s and go as high as the $800,000’s. The single family homes start around $400,000 and go up to more than $4 million.
